Services
Companion care is a type of in-home non-medical care provided to individuals who may need assistance with daily activities or simply desire companionship and support to maintain their independence and quality of life. Unlike skilled medical care provided by nurses or therapists, companion care focuses on enhancing the overall well-being and social engagement of the client.
For clients with mild cognitive impairment through moderate dementia, we recommend Companion Care. With this level of care, the Memory Care Professional functions more as a friend and social acquaintance than a full-time caregiver. The MCP focuses their time on fun activities and outings, and also helps maintain the household.
Hobbies
We delve into who our clients were before their diagnosis and help them pursue their passions. Tapping into interests helps maintain a greater quality of life for longer.
Cooking
Our MCPs foster a sense of independence by working with clients to plan, shop, and cook healthy foods that stimulate the appetite.
Cleaning
As dementia progresses, clients often let basic cleaning lapse. Our MCPs stay on top of household chores like sweeping, mopping, and laundry, making sure the home is clean and safe.
Medication Reminders
While Companion Care is non-medical, our MCPs do ensure that clients take their medication at the correct time. We also record concerns and report them to doctors or family members.
Entertaining
We can accompany clients to events, provide transportation to social occasions, and facilitate small gatherings. Remaining connected to friends keeps people with dementia connected to life.
Although Companion Care is usually enacted for clients further along in the dementia progression, it is still person-centric, activity-based, and designed to help people with mild to moderate dementia live their lives independently and joyfully for as long as possible.
